Default Great carp outing! (Got my first mirror)

Today was a pretty overcast day here in Illinois so I thought I might try to hit the local carp spot. It seemed like all the big boys were out today and willing to bite too! I caught all of these fish on a crawdad imitation fly I tie myself with squirrel hair I saved from last hunting season.

Lastly after trying and tryinf for what has felt like forever I finally caught my first mirror carp! not a giant but beautiful and rewarding as anything ive caught.

Looks like a 6wt or lighter, bet that was a heck of a fight. I've never seen any "mirrors" here in Houston area.

They are a blast for sure.

Of course, I never hide fly patterns I want everybody to have the same luck as me! Here ya go, its got dumbell eyes on a #8 offset shank hook with a brown chenile body and squirrel fur legs to look like a tiny crawdad. As you can see in the picture I had some of the leg hair pulled off today so Ill have to fix it. Its an easy fly and its been working wonders this season, enjoy!
