Default Bayou Bonefish!

After a bit of a drought (not weather but fish caught) landed the grass carp (aka "bayou bonefish") the other Sunday morning. These guys put up a good fight and fuss. Can't over emphasize how spooky these guys are. I have to stalk them like trying to slide up on an elk.

Easy trip 15 min from the house. Once you hook one you'll be "hooked" too. Fight in my mind mimics a redfish.

Used 6wt Flight, WF6F GPX, braided leader, 10# fluoro tippet and Carp Bitter. Lost 2 other a bit bigger. Also flushed the biggest common carp I've ever seen. Hate offer estimate his size as it would sound wild.

On the Upper White Oak Bayou in Houston. Easy access public waters, what it lacks in esthetic appeal it makes up for in fish.

Very cool! Nice catch! I have grassers in the lake behind my house and when they are in the shallows feeding I thought they were redfish for the longest time! Now thatI know better, I've been trying to get a take for a while now, unsuccessfully! These things are so spooky!

Nice work!

That's a damn fine looking fish. Never chased these guys, but it sounds like you've got them dialed in. Good on ya.
