If the tragic death in a helicopter crash on the Kola Peninsula of British salmon anglers Rupert Beaumont and Mark Robertson and their Russian guide and interpreter, Alexander Tushnikov, was not enough tragedy in Russia there is further terrible news now reported by Salmon Junkies.

The site reports that Nick Podolsky, one of the ‘First generation’ of Russian fishing guides on Kola, was shot and killed in a private dispute while he was taking care of his Summer School for young people near the White Sea coastline east of Umba.

Nick was not just a great salmon angler and guide but will be known to many anglers for his exquisitely carved fish.
