I designed, tie and sell this commercially. I know paint small eyes, because customers wanted them, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. This popper has done more to control the bluegill population than any other popper I have designed. It lands softly, gurgles a little on retrieve as it dips just under the surface. Oh, and it nails grass carp, too! The grassies must think it is corn, or cottonwood or cattail seed tufts. It also doesn't spook the big carp, either. I probably sell 1,000 of these each year.
