Well, there is nothing wrong with sharing your passions with the people in your life. And if you have the means to do it and your mind made up, go for it.

However, for the money, I believe you can get a better beginner rod. The fast action on the Sage One may be difficult to learn. I'd recommend you get the One for you and get a Sage Response package for her. It has a very forgiving action. You may be able to find an old Vantage for $150. Perfect beginner rod.

I think it's a kind and thoughtful gesture. She may love it. I'd probably go with a Redinton or Sage or Cabelas rod. But you should do whatever you think is right.
