  1. Default Ketchikan Trout Options

Hello Everyone! First post here, great information. I'm going to be in Ketchikan for a full week visiting friends in mid-June. They're not fisherman at all and don't have much for leads for me. I am looking to fly fish for trout on local rivers and streams. Understand the timeline isn't good for salmon but that is fine. I'd like to pack my 6 wt. & gear and be able to fish a few days while I am up there.

I am contemplating doing a day long guided drive in trip. But, I would really like to be able to drive to a few areas and fish, even if for an afternoon. Can anyone give me some feedback on this? Is it realistic?

    Thanks for all the help!

You should be able to find some trout up at Ward lake. South of town there is a hike up to a stocked lake. I forget the name. Take the road to the end and there's a parking lot and a trail head.

You have some options if you want to target salmon. You can fish the creek right in downtown. Head north to the end and you can find fish in Lunch creek by the state park campground.
