This morning USA beat Algeria to advance to the next 16 teams. We had two TV's next to each other one watching the USA game and one watching the England game.

It should have not been such a big deal had Dempsey's first goal been allowed, and we should not even have been placed in that position had the goat against Slovenia been disallowed either. we won the group but it should have been by a lot more than what it was.

This is a very good point. We just havn't managed very great refs this time around.

They haven't honestly been to terrible outside of the two incidents with the goals. Being an official is really hard work and the problem is once you make the call you HAVE to stick by it even if you know it was wrong... after you called it. Once you go back on a call the flood gates are opened and you're in big trouble. The only other call they missed was Dempsey getting the elbow to the face which should have been a red card and a PK on the spot before stoppage time also..

We aren't the only ones though, another couple of teams have had goals taken away because of false offsides calls this year though none of them were as big of a deal as the ones in the USA games. In fact I counted six missed or called wrong offsides calls in one of France's games..

Officials will be a part of sports and that's the way it is, there are always going to be three teams out there, each competeing and the officials.
