Grand Bahama
I'm planning a trip to Grand Bahama in the near future. I'll most likely be staying in the Lucaya area. Has anyone ever fished the beaches there in the early mornings or late evenings with success? Any other recommendations for fishing areas in the Lucaya area that I can walk to? Species of fish doesn't matter, it's really not a fishing trip, but thought I might get in a little fishing before my wife gets up or something.

Cannot say on wading in your staying's where I've stayed during a "mixed" trip fishing and vacation...I fished the west end with a guide ... it's not going to be easy to find spots near lucaya in your time window before your wife gets up...when asking about spots to go wading...keep in mind that in the islands we represent full's been my experience that a wading request or info without guide assistance usually gets a blank response

Re: Grand Bahama
old thread I know

when on grand Bahama take a drive to the west end and ask for Tommie foley he is the oldest son of the old time master bonefish guide "bonefish foley"

He knows that waters as well as anyone and will put you on fish.

Tommy and old an foley are the best. But if you don't want to catch bones on the west end fishing on the beach by the hotels is super . I fished directly in front of the Royal Lucaya and caught king mackerel and cudas till my arms hurt!
Fishing with Bonefish Foley on numerous trips was the best . The guy is a legend and proved it every trip out!

I fished with Tommy last year and will be returning again this April. I stayed at Old Bahama Bay at the West End and really enjoyed it. Fly fished all day and then spin fished after dinner until dark on the rock jetty a couple of hundred feet from our hotel room. For me it's an ideal sport for a fishing vacation.

Re: Grand Bahama
Forgot to mention I was asked by the hotel manager to move farther down the beach. It seems all the action and fish activity I was having attracted a large hammerhead to the hotel swim area. Oops!
If you go out with Tommy say hello to him and his dad for me. Tell him the A&P man will be there next year. Those guys are great!
