    I have a guide friend who is an avid hatch matcher. He will carefully pump the stomach of the first trout he catches, and dutifully inspect the contents. He will then tie on whatever the trout he caught has been eating.

    Figuring out what bugs are on the river via watching what's buzzing around me, or looking under rocks is my own preferred method! I'm not much for stomach pumping.

    On the other hand, function over form says: An elk hair caddis with a dropped copper ...

  2. Fringe

    So, welcome to my first blog post. I have low expectations- (and so should you ).

    Due to my busy work schedule, I haven't had time to fish much the last 10 days or so. Every once in a while I have these dry stretches of time, and generally it leads to a few predictable mental destinations-

    I was thinking back on all the posts I've seen from people who are determined to ...

  4. Riparian Barbarian

    Don't know if I can do this or not, but here goes. My son lives in Rawlins, Wy and fishes the North Platte every chance he gets. He starts at the Duggway north of Sinclair and goes up to Alcova. He loves Fremont canyon! He's not an expert but he is learning rapidly. He started the "Riparian Barbarian" a month ago so any of you Wyoming fishermen or any others might want to look at his spot. I go to Google and type in Riparian Barbarian. A lot of pics and comments. Enjoy, he'd love hearing ...

  5. Still Working on The Cabin;

    I've been at the lake most of the past 2 weeks and although I took some time to go up to the Talachulitna to fish for trout and did some exploring on the Yentna River.......... I finally finished the second floor ceiling and sheeted the gable walls in the cabin.

    On the front end of the building I had built a bridge to extend the loft to reach the large gable windows. ...
