Default A Cast in the Woods, by Stephen Saunter

I just finished reading a book titled “A cast in the Woods” by Stephen Saunter. It’s an excellent read, especially to a fly fisher or someone that has dreamed of buying a cabin on a stream out in the country. If you’re like me, I have dreamed of owning such a cabin. Stephen lives in New Jersey and loved to fish the West Branch of the Delaware and the many small streams in the Catskills. He is especially fond of dry fly fishing and catching the hatches in the late evenings, but that meant a long nighttime drive back home each weekend. So he sets out on a quest to find his dream cabin. He finally finds the perfect place, a two bedroom cabin on 14 acres with a quarter mile of stream running through the property that offers some excellent dry fly fishing.

Laced throughout the book are some true gems of information on fly fishing the Delaware and the local tributaries, that alone is well worth the time invested in reading the book.

After Stephen and his wife upgrade the cabin to their personal tastes, they go through a series of events, three floods, proposed fracking and then a number of invasive species, it was very interesting how they dealt with each issue as it came up. Anyway, this is an excellent read and well worth the price!

Thanks, Larry. I will look for this. I think most outdoors-people dream about a cabin in the woods. I know, I have. However, when I get these thoughts, nowadays, I go to Ard's blog and read about all the work he puts into his cabin, until they pass.

    Thanks,
    steve

Steve, good point! Unfortunately I married a horse woman, so I have no excess cash for such an expenditure. LOL!
