Default Missouri River and Rock Creek in Montana producing!!

I have been guiding, back and forth from the Missouri River North of Helena MT, and Rock Creek East of Missoula MT. The Mo is producing big fish, like usual and lots of em and they are hot! They are eating, for me any way, caddis pupa and pmds. You can stick big fish all day on dries in the right spots if the weather cooperates. Rock Creek was also fishing great but we got some rain and it cooled off a little raising the river back up to 1700 cfs which pushes fish a little and keeps em tucked in behind stuff and not all over the river. They are still eating salmon flies/ golden stones. Green drakes and pmds are out if its cloudy. Lots of fish still crushing big bugs, eating a stone or mayfly nymph dropper. Be careful if you are floating and have some fun. Brooks Jessen MT Guide #9431 Montana Fly Fishing, Missoula Montana, Montana Fly Fishing for Trout. Classic Journey Outfitters.

Good to hear your catching some fish....I went and fished the East Fork of the Bitteroot over by Sula last week and came back dry and golden stones and salmon flies were buzzing around. Any thoughts on why I can't get any production out of that river?

Rock Creek, East Fork, West Fork will do that sometimes. When there are big bugs everywhere and nothing seems to be taking them, I drop a little copper john 2 feet of a golden/ salmon, or a sj worm, pink is good. If that doesn't work fish a little double bead stone , worm rig under a indicator, if you want to keep pushing the big dry, try putting it in real tight spots, under bushes, in shady spots, and if that doensn't work try pushing a small parachute or a goddard caddis, thats my bug progression in that situation that will almost always produce fish when they arent eating the hatch out
