Thread: Flyfishing in Sedona, Arizona

  1. Default Flyfishing in Sedona, Arizona

    Hi All.

I'm posting this from the UK and we are visiting Vegas then Sedona in a few weeks.

Whilst in Sedona, my wife and I are hoping to do some fly fishing for trout. We are both members of the Wales (UK) International Flyfishing Team and would like to think that we are competent anglers, but we need guidance to the waters that we can fish, and whether we can hire the tackle over there, waders, boots etc?

I'm also a part time journalist that has written for the UK Flyfishing Magazines for the last 14 years or so, and I would like to take photos and write an article - based on the fact that many visitors to the Vegas/Phoenix area do the Gambling and Grand Canyon thing, but then don't go fishing!

Naturally, if I have material to do this then I can submit the photos and words and would happily mention in the article any guides/shops/local anglers etc that were happy to assist - with contact details/web address etc.

Any assistance would very much appreciated.

    Thanks and regards.

    Hello Shane,
Oak Creek that flows through and around sedona is a beautiful little stream, the time I was there I had no equipment with me. Some day I will make it back there.
Here is some info about it that you've probably already seen, but in case you haven't.....

Perhaps give these folks a ring and they might get you some more up to date info.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Shane: Be sure to ask the folks at "The Hookup Outfitters" whether or not they have rental gear. A lot of fly shops over here have rental gear. Sounds like a cool trip, I hope you post a trip report when you return, we would like to read about your experiences! Next time you come over to the U.S. plan a fishing trip into the Rockies (Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Utah or Wyoming), we have lots of members who can help you out with the planning and get you on some fantastic trout fishing.

    Hi All.

Thanks for your kind replies. Sounds like Oak Creek would be awesome. Would consider Lees Ferry for a 2nd days fishing too if anyone knows a bit about it I would appreciate your input.

    Thanks and kind regards.
