    Brookies in Hand: A Series

First two fish came separate streams in the Shenandoah National Park. Third brookie came from a small spring creek in Yosemite National Park

Took a mess for dinner this morning. Really silvery, just in from the sea. Amazing how much firmer and strong these salters are. Just like a salmon. Yum.
Fly was a green machine variation I came up with, very popular this morning. Set up was an Allen Myth 6.5 foot 3wt. With an LL Bean Large Arbor reel. Great little rod with lots of power. Tons of fun.

Back on the small stream again, the rivers like chocolate milk.

I just love the color variations of brookies. You guys have some amazing photos posted on here that really show how beautiful these fish are. I usually catch more browns and rainbows, but I've had a few brookies take my flies in the smaller streams. They've got to be the most colorful cold water fish out there.

Wind River Range brookies taken from East Echo Lake in the Popo Agie Wilderness. I caught about 20 fish in three hours.

Guess I will throw mine in. First time fish since I was 16 (now 33) and just picked up fly fishing. Luckily I live in a "mecca" for a lot of things outdoors and blessed with exceptional mtb trails 2 miles from my house and a great tributary 5 miles up the same fire road that is part of the mtb trails.

17 incher from a high country lake, late last month. Longest brookie I've caught in a long time. Caught a 15 incher the next evening in the same lake that was about twice as fat and vastly more energetic, but left the camera in camp. Whoops.
