    Default Today on Savage River

Caught my second largest brown trout today on the Savage River in Western Maryland. He was 14 1/2, almost 15". Caught him with a 6X tippet and a #20 Griffiths Gnat. Spotted him in a pool below a suspension bridge over the river. Wasn't rising until I got in across from him and I saw him come up and swirl at something. First time the gnat went over him, he slurped it and then the net. I was pretty excited. Saw him to the right in the pool pic below the rock sticking out.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...because only in the woods can I find solitude without lonliness..." Robert Traver 1964 (Judge John Voelker)

Nice fish. I have never been to the Savage but see that I need to get it on my list. How hard is it to fish? I hate streams where the fish are like professors and always schooling me.
