Thread: A first today

  1. Default A first today

I caught my first trout today on a dry fly. Up until this point I've been fishing mainly nymphs and wooly buggers but today I noticed a bugs touching down so I picked a fly that looked close (parachute adams) and whamo! Had a bunch of strikes and finally connected on a nice little seven inch brookie.

Its gonna be a good summer I think!

BTW fist brook trout I have ever caught as well.

Sorry though no pics I forgot my phone at the truck, DOH!

That's the best, seeing the take on top. Good ole adams for the win. Last time out I caught a couple on a parachute adams.

I agree it's very challangeing trying to catch Browns & Rainbows,Slurping Insects off The Surface, unfortunately we don't have any numbers of Brookies in our area, however a Guy caught one 600mm (24") below The Hatchery in The Snowy Mountains.

It doesn't matter what type of fish your targeting, nothing stops your heart like a good top water bite! I get goose bumps ust thinking about it. Congrats and many more!

I literally wait 9 months a year for the 3 months of dry fly fishing. Congrats on the accomplishment. Nymphing and thowing streamers Ill take every day but seeing a trout rise to a dry in clear water is in a leauge of its own.
