    Default Best Of Both Worlds And A Mystery Fish

    Well went out today with one of my good friends, he's been fly fishing for about a year now. The plan was to hit up a nice little river but we ended up fishing one of its feeder creeks, and started catching brookies in the first hole. Then on our way out we stopped at a pond I've just gotten permission to fish. Here we caught some small bass, some big gills, and a few mystery fish.

    The pictures do not show the best details but it looks like a dark green sunfish, or a Bluegill X Something hybrid, some of which grow very, very large.

    Your mystery fish is a warmouth. relative of the google-eye/rock bass

    [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warmouth"]Warmouth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Chaenobryttus_gulosus.jpg" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/42/Chaenobryttus_gulosus.jpg/250px-Chaenobryttus_gulosus.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/4/42/Chaenobryttus_gulosus.jpg/250px-Chaenobryttus_gulosus.jpg[/ame]

    The pictures there make them look more brown, but everyone i've ever caught has been nice and dark like the one you posted

    One way I've alwasy been able to help determine if it's a warmouth or not, are some seriously large teeth, especially in the bottom jaw. I've caught a few small warmouth that were truly uncomfortable to hold due to their teeth.

    The first fish is a rainbow with some mad glare when I took the picture.
