    Man on thin ice.......

    Got to 20- this week.
Had to take a day off.
Now the temp is soaring to a tropical 40+.
No one out today but me....
The only issue, is broken ice cakes messing with my drift.....

And I thought we had temp swings .... we're child's play compared to that. 8 to the high 20's has been our usual the past couple of weeks. Weather man keeps saying we're going to get into the high 40's, maybe the low 50's. Problem is each day 'he' pushes that back until 'tomorrow.'

It got up to 3 above today. And winter doesn't start until December 21st.

Great story, we usually do not wade in the winter,we fish small wildtrout streams, dressed for the cold in the Pa. Mtns.
There is nothing like Wild Trout ,Timber Rattlers and Cowboy coffee.

I would like to try the ice fishing once "just because" or to be able to say I've done it. Guess if I lived where there was lots of ice all winter long, I would have tried a long time ago, but cold weather and I don't get along like we use to so its a good thing I live where I do.

I've fished when it was 32* when I launched the boat at daybreak, water temp was high 30's, and so darn foggy I had to be very careful till about 10am when the fog finally burned off the lake. Yea for gps

Guys that fish in really nasty weather are the 1%er's, guess I'm not.

A few more pics for fun... That particular day was actually very nice for Ice-Fishing... It was late march and around 40F... We were fishing in t-shirts at one point...

    (unlike today, it's -35F...)

There are people around here that are crazy enough to drill holes in the ice and fish through it! Plenty of good fishing to be had in the winter, though it may not be with the fly rod sometimes. On Friday I went out fishing in weather about 31F and very breezy and had a great time. The fish are slow, but they have to eat.
I climb/hike in winter (NH/VT/ME/ NY) all the time and have no issue with cold. BUT I'm with you on the whole nada to the circle in the ice and swinging a 2ft rod!! Guess my ADD would take over!
