Default Landlocked salmon

I have never caught anything but bluegills in a river (I most fish in ponds, lakes, and the ocean) but I see locally that Lake Champlain landlocked salmon are making their annual migration up the rivers, and I may try to catch one. I think I will use a 6-weight rod (I have 7, 8, and 9 weight rods but my 6-weight Fenwick Aetos is the most pleasant to use) with a sinking line (there are some deep pools in the area I am looking at) and tube flies and streamers (along with the usual woolly buggers and the like I have some of these really big articulated streamers that I have never used, they were in a "grab bag" assortment from an online place).. Sound like a reasonable plan?

Default Re: Landlocked salmon

Sounds good to me, I used to fish for them in both Maine and New York and used a five weight. Take a look at the Finger Lakes tributaries since they may also be close. A little reading will tell which lakes and streams may offer best chances. I caught many using typical feather wing streamers for years.
