Thread: My Son's 1st Brown's

    Default My Son's 1st Brown's

On the way to a rugby tournament, I decided to bring my 15 year old son along for some creekin'. He's never been out crashing brush for wild trout and is used to working 30# yellowfin tuna offshore. This is his normal style of fishing....

Well, it didn't take long for him to become comfortable on a 3wt with a flashback nymph and indicator. After a few missed strikes, he settled in and brought his 1st ever brownie to hand. In a couple of hours, he brought to hand 6 brownies and 2 bows- all wild. Here's a few of his fish. I know it's not a huge pelagic, but I think he enjoyed being out 'hunting' for wild trout. And, as a dad, I enjoyed teaching him a bit of conservation and C&R practice.

    I fish, therefore, I drink...

    Creeker,

Although I never had any children I can imagine how proud you were to be his guide on that trip. Watching the fly hook a person is almost better than hooking a fish huh?

Congrats Creeker on getting the oversize rugrat on some fish in the local creek.. Ok almost your back yard The smiles say it all. You have a new fishing buddy, just keep him out of that big salty pond out there... Gets expensive

See ya at church one day

The Low O is dropping quickly and you need to get out some more! Knee surgery can wait.
