Driftless dropper combos

With the epic storm this past weekend and more snow in the forecast I'm thinking to stay indoors and pre-tie some dropper set ups. What are folks favorite dropper combos for spring? Also, how far back do you set your droppers? For the small and generally shallow local streams I wouldn't think anything more than a foot or two would be needed but what works for you?

I'm never afraid to throw a sz12 caddis or stimulator up top with a sz18 or 20 colored zebra midge down below. A big fly up top never hurts, and keeps the setup floating longer. Anywhere from 12 to 18in is my goto length for a small driftless stream, but up to or over 2 feet for deeper sections.

It's one of my favorite ways to fish new spots!

I guess it depends upon what hatch I'm fishing in April. BWO dry with a wet fly emerger on the back works real well - the emerger can float or sink, doesn't matter.

Dark Hedrickson's a bigger fly, so weighted hare's ear off the back or a hare's ear emerger will do.

Caddis - similar set up to the BWO, or go with a small beadhead emerger.

I like to go 16" or so off the dry.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
