I made an escape for a quick 3-day weekend in the Driftless area of SW Wisconsin this past weekend. The area had gotten quite a bit of rain on Thursday, and more on Friday, so some of the streams were off-color on Friday. The rain also seemed to slow down the trico action, which was a big part of what I was hoping to hit.
The other attraction was hoppers, which there were tons of in the grass. It was great having some topwater action for browns!
A “thank you” goes out to Itchmesir for giving me some local intel and tips for areas to try while I was down there.
A few pics from the weekend - it was super foggy each morning, which made the scenery better than the early morning fishing...
Hopper eater!
I’ve seen a lot of trash in streams over the years, but a microwave??? How on earth does that get in there?
