June brings forth hatching Callibaetis mayflies (Speckle-winged Dun) from the lakes of the Rocky Mountain West... this one from a local reservoir here in Utah this morning.

Not just in the west. We have the speckled duns out this way too.
Where we were on Friday, there were pockets of them hatching all over the pond and where you found a hatch, you found the fish.
If you didn't actually see the "little sailboats" or any rises, watching the swallows swoop around was a sure way to find the bugs
When you did locate an emergence, it was a hit on every cast. And we weren't exactly "matching the hatch" either.
I think that my buddy said he was using a black ghost and I got all my fish on a muddler, and that's despite the fact that there is not one baitfish in this pond.
Not one.
