    Default Identify This Insect

On my way home stopped at this lake and these were everywhere. I was using a clear bobber and leader with fly setup and was catching fish with flies I bought called "callisbaetis adults". Look kinda like this insect on my handle.

Switched to my fly rod and caught two fish then nothing. And noticed the flying insects where basically gone.

Callibaetis is my thought, they are pretty common on lakes and ponds!

Callibaetis spinner. They are a bit lighter in high elevation Eastern Sierra lakes. This is from Trumbull Lake at 9,900'...

June is prime time for callibaetis in the PNW, and that's definitely a callibaetis spinner. I've never done well when the spinners are on the water, but when the duns are hatching is an entirely different story. On my local waters the hatches happen daily in the late morning, continuing for a couple hours, and on some lakes the bugs continue to hatch sporadically till dark.

For a bigger fish....Fish an emerger on a sink tip for even more fun.......a 3ft slowish strip will do it.
I got tired of waiting for a surface eat.

The bar isn't set by the fish we catch, but by the one's we don't.
