The EC Crafted rods have better hardware and cork. Similar to the Featherlights, you will probably benefit with a heavier line than advertised. The 7.5' Crafted is listed as a 3 weight, but it is more of a 4 weight. The 8.5' Crafted is listed as a 5 weight, but I prefer it as a 7-8 weight. The longer Crafted rod needs a heavy reel in order to balance. Otherwise, it will be tip-heavy and unpleasant. I use an automatic reel loaded with a 7 WF line and enjoy the setup for bass fishing.

I looked at one at the W*lmart the other day.
They still have the same butt over tip ferrule as the featherlight .
Why is that a problem you may ask? Because it make for a soft tip over a stiff butt.
Better components can't make up for a poorly designed taper.
