    Somehow I missed this thread . even though Allen told me he had posted it. Yikes!!

    Very nice tutorial and step-by-step. I've never see the stems put into the hook eye; good way to keep them straight while you tie them in.

    Very nice tie; you made it look easy!

    On all whole feather wing flies I tie, I put the stem through the eye. It helps keep everything together and even. If you feel like you need to reinforce your wing you can fold the stems under the head and then finish the head. It adds a little bulk to the head but it guarantees they wont slip.
