This one caught my eye while thumbing through John Shewey's Spey and Dee Flies book. Simple, yet beautiful in it's own right. I had to use some creativity as I had to substitute. Walt Johnson called for Golden Pheasant breast feathers for the wing. Sorry.....

Hook - 1/0 Mustad Salmon
Thread - 8/0 black uni
Tag - medium silver tinsel
Body - Purple Angora dubbing
Rib - medium silver tinsel
Hackle - large ring neck pheasant rump (natural)
Throat - large purple schlappen
Wing - 2x stacked medium ring neck pheasant pad feathers (natural)
Head - black thread w/ Loon UV coating

Lots of people looking but no one stepping up and saying, nice work on these :)

Before I got hooked on those darn tubes I logged away many a rainbow / steelhead trout on very similar ties.

Nicely done.

Nice ties, and a nice pattern. I've tied a couple in the past and also subbed rnp for gh. The fish don't seem to care.

I have zero experience fishing this style of fly, but I would use that anytime on a couple of the local lakes where I fish. Looks fishy as hell. I will be tying some of these up. VERY nice.
