A slight variation of a vintage Dee Salmon fly from the 1884 Fishing Gazette. Can't go wrong with adding JC to any fly.




Hook - Alec Jackson 1.5 blind eye with 30 lb dacron loop
Tag - Large flat silver tinsel
Tail - 2x GP tippets back to back
Body - Black floss rear half and black angora dub front
Rib - Large flat silver tinsel
Hackle - Black spey hackle
Throat - Black schlappen
Wing - White turkey tail
Eye - JC
Head - Black thread with Loon UV cure

Beautiful Spey hackle! What kind is it and what’s your source?

It's a non CITES listed species of Heron native to Asia. I get it from Canadian Tube Fly Co. They offer 2x species legal to ship to the US. I prefer the medium size as the large and XL are pretty long barbules. ~ $.50 / plume.
