Fancy Roe Fly

Not exact ally an egg but very effective for both King & Silver salmon, the fly is weighted and tumbled or swung slowly along the bottom. Since it is made with glo bug yarn and called the "Roe Fly" I will pass it off in the egg box.

Kunz King Killer;

Whenever salmon spawn is in the water eggs or egg clusters are always effective. This fly, originated by an Alaskan 'Mike Kunz' this fly is a good choice for you to bounce along the bottom (think weight) and will get you some action when the fish are in. It is big and bright.

Tying;

Hook: Large salmon size 2 - 02, here I use a #2
Tail: White marabou
Body: Here I have used four pieces of Glo Bug yarn, 2 on top & 2 on bottom of shank.
Head: I use a little red chenille in front of the egg yarn
[Note] I have had many Rainbow / Steelhead trout snatch these up just down stream of King Salmon redds'. Also caught on this huge egg were; king salmon, and many Jacks.

Awesome patterns! I am headed up to fish on the Alagnak river in July for King Salmon. I have never fished for kings, could someone offer some advice on what my priorities should be for tying as I have not even begun to tie yet for my trip?
