First Timer

I will be over on Kodiak Island next June fishing the Ayakulik River, going for king and sockeye, mainly.
I have never fished abroad before (I live in the UK) but have plenty experience with Atlantic salmon, and so gear is not an issue - I have Spey rods and lines - in fact I have bought smaller single handed rods!

But flies! If you could fish just 6 flies what would they be? I have the hooks to tie the flies, but pattern colour seems more important that size?

Any advice would be appreciated and I will be copying some of the flies on this site

I'd also send a PM to Ard (Hardyreels) as he lives in Alaska and is also a guide and can answer your specific questions.

Ard's flies work fantastic here and there is a bunch of different ones to try.
