    Default What are you tying?

What are you tying at the moment?

Right now I'm tying some of Denny Rickards pattern called a "Stillwater Nymph", we do well with these during the warmer months on the local lakes.

After that I will be on to Golden Stone and Yellow Stimulators for the South Fork, cannot have enough of these patterns from mid June thrue August.

I have been filling my fly box's up since September I have done my dries, nymphs and caddis. Now I'm working on my buggers and other streamers.
We start teaching a beginners class next month so it will be back to the basics till March. As I am retired I can tie any time I feel the urge.
    Good tying...
I was fly tying and fly fishing before it got trendy.

Been tying a lot of larger steelhead streamers.
Most are 3 to 4 inches w/stinger hooks.
Also have been tying up my Tiger Sparrows,
Crayfish imitations, Jimmy Hendrix Purple Haze &
soon some small Thread flies. I do research this
time of year, when not out steeheading, on new
patterns. This is a great time of year to re-stock
    the fly boxes.

    The winter hatches.

Size 20 and smaller BWO's (mostly emergers) and midge patterns. When that gets too monotonous, I'll throw in an experimental soft hackle or two.

You better be tying streamers for the winter streamer fly swap, or John will be coming over to kick your butt! You only have a week to go before the deadline. LOL!

I met Joni today at Jimmy's in IF and watched her tie a couple of flies. Unfortunately I couldn't stay long because I was working, but when I got home tonight I experimented with some of the techniques she showed while tying a Gartside style streamer. Worked out pretty well.

I forgot to say what I'm tying when I was giving Fysh a hard time.
Right now I'm tying: Hot Head Leech, czech nymphs and jujubee midges.

Dorian, I wish I could have seen the tying demo Joni put on but its a long drive for me.
