'Ol McGinty
Found in a 1957 National Geographic. Those old magazines are full of ads for thing we made right here including shoes, watches, clothing and eveything else we used except maybe Volkswagons. :)

Very cool Jack! Check out the vise and the fly rack ! The old pics are great to see when you can find them!

I like the quill in the lacquer. It seems so simple and yet I doubt that anyone does that now.
McGintys are my go-to fly for bluegill. Mine are a little more subdued than that one though :p

I agree, that's a neat vise there. Makes the old Thompsons look downright space age! ;)

I'd love to see a step-by-step tutorial for tying that fly as it's shown there!
Looks a bit better than my chenille McGinty.

BTW- I ALWAYS keep a few McGinty flies in my 'gill assortment. I've seen a few days that it was the only choice that would take fish.

Re: 'Ol McGinty
I took my first fly-caught trout on a McGinty, dry. I was twelve and so excited that to bring the fish to hand I simply walked backwards in the cow pasture, ignoring the steps into fresh cow patties ... a messy beginning. :)
