Thread: crawfish patterns

  1. Re: crawfish patterns

I have tied the realistic ones but, when it comes down to it, this baby works fantastic. Use depth Charge or type V and slow retrieve or intermediate and jerky and it is a bait fish pattern. And simple as heck to tie.

The crawfish pattern is driving me nuts!. I can't seem to get it right. Do they really need a set of eyes?. I have a hard time getting the pinchers, eyes and shell back to come out right. I sure would like some help with this pattern.
I was fly tying and fly fishing before it got trendy.

Just my opinion, but NO the eyes don't matter. I think they are more for the FF. I feel it is more a general silhouette and the movement.
