    Default Cabelas Drake III Question

A friend of mine gave me a Cabelas Drake III reel and its right hand and wondered if anyone knows how to switch it to left hand?

    Thanks!

Have you tried Cabela's customer service? I've never heard of it.

I was waiting to see if anyone responded to this....

The problem with the Cabela's reels are that they're re-branded and Cabela's offers no support after they're out the door
If you put up a couple of pictures, it's likely that someone here will recognize the original make and model (OEM) and be able to help

I hope you've figured it out by now but if not, I think I have the answer. I have a drake II and I believe the secret is the plastic insert in the center of the spool or on the pin (I forget which). I believe it is called a needle bearing. The difference with this one is that it spins freely in one direction and clamps onto the drag system when spun in the opposite direction. If you remove this needle bearing, flip it over, then put it back on, it will change the retrieve from right to left handed. Good luck

That sounds like the old Pfleuger system of the 50's or 40's
