Default line for smaller flies

ok really dumb question. How small of a line do I need to tie these smaller flies? Having a tuff time with the smaller hooks like the 18 22 and 24. What am I doing wrong? PLease help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your talking about tippet then I would use a 5x to a 7x.

that small your looking at 5x or 6x
you can us 7x, but expect a few break offs!
