Thread: squeaky line

    Default squeaky line

I just recently bought the discontinued and discounted Rio Avid Intermediate Clear line. The line arrived today, I spooled it and mounted the reel on a Zenith.

I took the setup to the back yard and started to cast when I heard squeaky noise coming from the line and the stripping guide friction. But then I thought maybe because the line is dry. So, I piled the line and sprayed some water on it.
I casted the line again, but the squeaky noise was still there. Probably not as loud as before, but it was still there. And soon enough the squeaky noise became louder and louder again as the line dried.

Now, as newbie as I can be, this Avid Intermediate line is my first ever intermediate line. So my question is (DRUM ROLL!!!) IS THIS NORMAL?
I've never encountered a noisy line before, I mainly used the RIO Gold and Outbound and had the Airflo Ridge Clear prior to the RIOs.

Despite the noise, the line shoot very well and roll 45ft or to the wall with very minimum effort, with poor technique and with poor English.

    So HELP!

I usually get this squeak from a dried out, old and dirty line...is it conceivable your guides are dirty?
