Hi all,

I seem to be having issues casting this rod with a #6 Rio smallmouth bass line.
It feels very guttles at any distance casting deerhair bugs.
Is this line too heavy for this rod?

Any thoughts.

Alex, I have a 6wt Flystik and found that a 6wt Rio Outbound Short was perfect for my style of fishing.

I also have a flystik, I fish it with SA GPX and have fished SA Magnum. My thoughts are that the rod just can't handle anything over a size 2 streamer. Deer hair bugs would be out if the question for me at least.

I've been playing with lines on this rod and found that a #6 trout line with the level tip cut performs beautifully with bass fly's.

Some say this rod likes over lining, not me.
Everyone has their preferences.

I happen to own all three weights of Flystiks and several of the Redington versions as well, I agree the Outbound Short works well for these short rods, at least with my casting style.
