I've been hitting the lawn fairly regularly over the last couple of months to try out some different combinations of rods/reels/lines in preparation for an upcoming trip. I bought a SA Amplitude ($130!!) for my 6 weight and probably cast it for 10 minutes about five or six different days doing a little target practice. Really like this line.
Last night, while putting everything away, I noticed that the welded loop had started to tear away. With one small nudge of my finger nail, it completely separated. This line has never left the yard, and I'm casting in a completely open area. My lawn is your typical Florida hodgepodge of grasses, but nothing tall or particularly tough. I emailed SA and received a response today that they would replace the line for me. There was, however, a disclaimer at the bottom of the email that read (including the asterisks): **Please avoid casting on the grass with your new line. It is extremely rough on fly lines especially the loops.**
I appreciate SA standing by their product and replacing the line, but wondering if anyone else had issues with lines tearing on grass?? If this is the case, I suppose I'll designate a "practice line" and a "fishing line" but thought yard casting was fairly common practice.
