  1. Default Fly Line for Sage TCR 9' 9wt

I know that this is a very similar question to one already posted. But I have to ask, its the 1st year with this rod and I really want to get the right line.

I'm going to be fishing for Atlantic Salmon on both small (50 - 60 feet wide) and large (300 - 400 feet wide) rivers. The line also has to work in both cold and warm weather. I'm currently looking at Wulff Triangle Taper Fly Line - Floating

    Thanks

TT will be a bit light at shorter distances... I would give Rio Windcutter a shot. My 697 TCR likes it a lot.
    ... But a lifelong journey.

I choose fly rods the same way I do women, motorcycles, and cowboy boots...
go with what ever feels good, and keep on hand as many as I can afford

    Hi WhiteBlueCharm,

I agree with GRN. The TT would not be my choice. I think you need a WF line.

Take a look at the Sharkskin Magnum, the Sharkskin Steelhead, the Mastery Steelhead or the Mastery Long Distance. The Magnum and the Long Distance are more aggressive tapers. RIO has some similar lines that would work well also.

Thanks for the ideas, the season doesn't open until June 1st but the fishing bug has hit me the last couple of days (keeping me up at night) and ice fishing just doest have the same effect.

I welcome any other advice, since I have time to make up my mind and see if i can get a good price.

    cheers WBC

Have you checked out Jim Teeny lines. He's a big salmon guy. His SW sink tip with floating running lines.. Website has info videos.

My first recommendations are the same as Frank's. Next up would be Airflo's Ridge Distance, or a Rio Outbound.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.
