Another tip I heard if you're unsure how much backing to use was to spool all the flyline you have first, then tie/pool the backing after until you reach near the rim. Unspool all of it carefully and then respool with the backing first this time. You should have a correct amount of backing and fly line now. It might even be more compact since the spooling will bring it all closer. I haven't given this a try yet but will probably do so in the future when I can afford another reel.
I also heard backing goes up to the smaller holes and the rest is fly line on the Medalists.

I have a 1494 AK that has WF5F line for it. I also have a 1595 RC that has WF8F line for it. My question is: what lb backing and how much will I need for each reel ? I ran a search and came up with zilch.
