Default 9wt rod with 10/11 reel

does anyone have issue with 9wt rod that weighs the same as a 10/12 and 9ft length with putting a 10/11 reel on it to have the extra backing for saltwater fishing? thanks , kyle

If the rod and reel feel balanced to you, you should not have any issues.

I think people tend to over-estimate the amount of backing that they need.
An exception however might be if you planning on targeting those oversize false albacore you people have there in Carolina each fall...... then load up by all means
