Anyone have anything positive or negative to say about this reel? I'm building a 7wt single hander and a 6wt spey soon. I'd like to buy one reel model and size that can accommodate the line for both, and it has been proving difficult. I found this Cortland reel today, and it looks like I could get one of the standard arbor spools and one of the mid arbor spools and be all set.

I have an older cassette reel now and love it, but I know they can be hit or miss. Thoughts?

I might be concerned with the capacity of the standard arbor cassette. Depending on the line that you use, you may not have enough capacity. You may be able to get all of the line on, but the line may come off in such small coils that you might experience tangles that can affect your casting.

Another concern is that the reel might feel too light for the longer rod.
