Hello, That's a good question. The answer is both. We will make a post soon on the details. Sorry for being so vague at this time.

I have been useing the Alpha II on boneys in Belize, and it works great. It has also held up to 20# + jacks. (which is a great testiment to the drag)

How does one oil the drag on the Kraken? Any videos?

Also, for a 7wt Bonefish reel, Kraken or Aplha?

Thank you.

Hello, we haven't posted videos yet do to our patent fillings. As for Bonefish we have used both reels in Bones. Just depends on the reel design you are looking for. When we were in Cabo our Kraken reels caught 40+ dorado and 1 80pound Sailfish. The Alpha matched that as well.

Thanks

Justin

I'm sure the Krakens are great reels, and I am considering getting one in the future for a 10 weight.

If you are interested in other options, there are a couple Lamson's on clearance at various shops right now... Velocity 3.5 is what I have, and they are on sale for just under $200. You can also get the Litespeed for just over $200. Both are absolutely bombproof reels and are they lightest you can get for the price by a long shot.

The aesthetic is a bit unique though, and the Kraken definitely has a fancier look to it. It took me a couple weeks to really fall in love with the look of my lamson.
