Default Loud Abel Clicker

I have an older Abel 5N that has the old Abel clicker sound while i have a new Abel 3N that is super quiet. Can I remove something from my 5N to get rid of the sound or retro fit it somehow to the new model?

Thanks

That clicking sound is there to let other anglers, that are close by, know that a Fishzilla is on...Why on earth would one want to squelch THAT???

If the reel you have features a spring loaded little ball in line with the drag plate, not the best sounding clicker nor necessary for the reel to perform correctly, Abel can re-fit it with either the newer system or a quite design. Take the spool off so you can describe what you are seeing and give them a call. Abel, fundamentally, is a custom shop that is willing to make all manor of personalization of their reels for you.

Thanks guys I called Abel and they took me through how to simply remove the clicker. Now the drag is silent but you can really tell how amazingly smooth the drag is especially after I added a nice coating of neatsfoot oil.

Just take a hemostat and pull out the little spring and little stub that is near the center of the spool. Interestingly the first N series had the traditional loud clicker and the newer N models have a much smaller clicker which has a much calmer smooth sound.
