Thread: Carp Reel

    Default Carp Reel

Looking for a reel capable of handling carp that will not break the bank. The reel should be able to hold 7wt line and 150 30lb backing. Any help or advice would be great.

    Default Re: Carp Reel

Allen Alpha III is a good choice. I own some lower end Sage reels with a very nice drag, but they don't have the appearance, fit and fine machining of an Allen at the same price point. Cabela's has reels in the sub $100 range with serviceable drags. No reel in the appropriate size should have any problem holding the line you mention.
