Good morning all. I have a Hardy Brothers, made in England, St. George 2 9/16 reel, which was aquired at a garage sale. I know nothing about the reel and have made the usual internet inquiries trying to find out the age and value of this reel. It has the agate line guide, aluminum mounting reel seat, and has a patent number of 658472 on the inside of the frame. There is no reel maker
initials like many of the other Hardy reels that are mentioned in my research. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Without pictures it would be hard to say. Here is a link on Hardy reels that might help you. If your reel is "blued" it will be much older than an enameled hardy. The Red agate is a good indication that it is pretty old...at least back to the 50's....maybe earlier
