Default Clicker on a Daiwa Lochmor 300

Hello all, I am brand new into the world of fly fishing. I was given a rod and reel by a generous Co worker so I can get into fly fishing, and I have a question about the reel. Is there a way to turn of the clicker, while still having drag? Reeling forward or backwards always makes a click, and the only way to stop it is by disengaing both the pawl clicks, but then it's 0 drag. Am I missing something very simple here? Thank you.

That's a spring and pawl reel, and you're right, if you disengage the pawls you'll have no drag. It's a very simple but effective system, but it's loud. Many people can't stand all the noise and buy quieter disc drag reels. I love clickers, the sound of my reel when a big fish takes line is music to my ears. They're not for everyone, though.
