    sorry on the delay from my build. seems my winding check that i ordered ,., has gone missing, so i'm stuck here wating

    I gotta ask, are you using a standard hoop hook keeper or one of those snazzy Fuji flip up jobs? I've put the Fuji on several rods and like them, which goes to show that I am not old fashioned

    Unless you're using a pricey winding check I'd just order a bunch. I did that with the cheap black rubber ones and they've come in handy, same with tiptops. Order several sizes and stick 'em somewhere, never know when you might need one.

    One of the joys of rolling your own is that you can skip those useless hook keepers
    Do people really use them ?
    I usually skip the winding check on my rods as well but that's just me.
