So I wake up at 6AM this morning to find I have no power. I can't dry the rod without power!!! Power came back on around 7, what do I do? If it goes out again while I'm at work the rod will stop turning and I'll have a mess on my hands... Damn you Mayan calendar!!! I'm a gambling man, I rolled the dice. We'll see what happens when i get home tonight.

Marco: Best of luck with the power, I sure would hate to see that rod get toasted by the power failing while you are at work........keeping fingers crossed!

Thanks Larry, you can cut the drips off after it hardens and a second coat will cover it but it will certainly wreck my timeline

I'm getting down to the wire. Grips, reel seat and wraps are done. If I get the guides done tonight, I may be able to pull off two coats of finish. If not he'll unwrap it with one coat and I'll take it back for the second coat.

Thanks Larry. Guides are on now but waiting for CP to dry. I'm only going to get one coat on, oh well. I took SBS photos of this one for a friend who is just starting out and having trouble laying out his wraps. If you guys have any interest I'll post it.

I had that happen once maybe 6 or 7 years ago when I was about half way through the first coat of flexcoat. My power used to be fairly unreliable up here. I ended up turning it by hand for about an hour and then the power came back on. I was sick and tired of turning it by that point. It wasn't really horrible but I hope to never duplicate having to do it again.

The electrical up here has improved over the last few years. It used to go out if the wind blew or for no apparent reason at all. It would flicker a lot too. The standard rule was if it flickered three times it was going out.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Power held up and I got the rod done enough to wrap. I did talk it back to apply one more coat of finish but it was a success! I'll get the SBS up some time this week. Merry Christmas to all!
