Yah, but with the thread making a 'formed' path over the feet, for it to move you would need to break the flexcoat and deform the thread for it to slip. If you whack it hard enough to do that, you have bigger problems than what the guide is made of. In fact I'll bet if you wack it hard enough to do it, that you would damage the rod even with roughing it up.

They use recoils in a lot of factory rods. I am quite certain that none of them rough up the blank either. If I were to see a guide where that was needed, I would find a different guide.
