Default Butt cap question

I have a vintage cortland rod and it is missing a butt cap it has all the reel locks and the reel seat but no cap. Any info on where I can get a butt cap for it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Icefishfun

Just a butt cap that will fit it doesnt even have to be the right finish it just needs to be able to keep the bottom part of the reel seat on the reel. i dont care about look i just wanna catch fish

I built a rod once with a reel seat that had no end cap; I went to Ace Hardware and found a box with all sizes of black caps for pipes and got one that fit for less than a quarter. It looks and works fine.

If the blank is open where the butt cap is missing, find a little piece of fiberglass rod which will slide up in there. Mark the point at where it seats flush with the end of the blank. cut two inches above the mark and a 3/8" outside the blank.

Take a solid cork ring, bore a hole ALMOST through and glue the cork to the end of the fiberglass plug. Stick it in an electric drill and shape it with a file and sandpaper. If you want a little class to it, glue a Buffalo nickel to the end of the cork like they put nickel silver ends on the old extended butt rods.
